The Bhutan National Legal Institute began a six-day virtual training on “Court-Annexed Mediation” (Phase VI) for the Bench Clerks today, with a total of 20 participants attending the training from various Courts across the country.
Since the institutionalization of the Court-Annexed Mediation Unit in the Courts across the country, a total of 142 Bench Clerks have been trained on Court-Annexed Mediation imparting necessary mediation skills and techniques. The training aims to enhance access to justice through mediation services within the court premises. The cases can be referred to the mediation unit either at the request of any parties or by a judge if he believes that there is a good reason to do so with the consent of the parties.
The training is being facilitated by a Justice from the High Court, and the faculty of the Institute. The six -day training will end on 9th April.
