A total of 25 private lawyers are currently attending a two-day sensitization workshop at Paro on Legal Aid Rules and Pro Bono Guidelines which began today. This workshop seeks to enhance their understanding of the concept of access to justice, particularly for individuals who face financial constraints impeding their ability to seek legal assistance. By sensitizing lawyers on the importance of providing pro bono services, the workshop aims to bridge the gap in access to justice and make legal assistance more accessible to the needy.
The participants will also be sensitized on e-litigation, professional ethics and code of conduct for lawyers, access to justice based on disability, gender-sensitive approaches to justice and the need for specialized capacity building of private lawyers.
The workshop is being organized jointly by the Bhutan National Legal Institute and the Bar Council of Bhutan in partnership with the UNDP
