Bhutan National Legal Institute conducted Workshop on Professional Ethics for the Royal Court of Justice today. This is in line with the Institute’s mandate of promoting Continuing Legal Education and Professional Development of the judicial personnel. Professional ethics, integrity and accountability entail rendering legal services with humility, compassion and mindfulness based on the laws and established procedures. This requires sterling conduct of the judicial personnel which is beyond reproach and worthy of respect and inspiring public trust and confidence. The opening ceremony of the Workshop was graced by Her Royal Highness, Ashi Sonam Dechan Wangchuck, the Hon. President of the Institute. It was attended by the judges of the appellate courts, the Dzongkhag Drangpons, Drangpon Rabjams, Registrars and Legal Officers from the various courts. The Workshop was facilitated by Professor Pooja Parmar, Faculty of Law, University of Victoria, Canada; and Ms. Kezang Wangmo, Lecturer, Jigme Singye Wangchuck School of Law, Thimphu.
