Awareness Workshop on “New Legislations & Amendments” for Bench Clerks

Legal awareness is the empowerment of individuals regarding issues involving the law. Legal awareness helps to promote consciousness of legal culture, participation in the formation of laws and the rule of law. To this end, the Bhutan National Legal Institute has been conducting a two-day awareness workshop on “New Legislations and Amendments” for the Bench Clerks of the Dzongkhag and Drungkhag Courts.
Bench Clerks are regarded as the backbone of the Judiciary. They not only deal directly with the cases but are integral part of the judicial process and their role as Bench Clerks is crucial in the effective delivery of justice. As such, there is a need to update them on the new legislation and amendments passed by the Parliament. This awareness workshop is aimed at ensuring uniform application of procedural and substantive laws in the cases before the Courts besides creating legal awareness. The similar workshop will be held after every Parliament session.
